Job Description:Acting as a team member providing user support, problem analysis and resolution, general technical assistance, and training related to the University IP communications network. Operational/Technical Provides technical assistance and maintenance support to first and third tier support groups and department end users. Helps to Analyze and resolves technical problems for established networks. Provides assistance and where appropriate handles technical network problems and emergencies. Performs monitoring of data communications network for purposes of preventative maintenance, trend analysis, and problem resolution. Assists in identifying problems and resolutions across multi-platform distributed network environment. Installs, configures and maintains network components as directed by team lead. Establishes user profiles, user environments, directories, and security for networks being installed. Document network problems and resolutions for future reference. Assists in the running of email, anti spam and virus protection. Assists in the Analysis and resolution of faults, ranging from a major network crash to a forgotten password. Maintains confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network. 24/7 technical support on a shift pattern. Reporting: Reports network operational status by gathering information as directed. Maintains records including problem documentation and actions taken. Escalates any risks and issues to the Network Team Lead. Other Responsibilities Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities reading professional publications maintaining personal networks participating in professional organizations.
